Need advice/recommendations for who y'all would suggest for new brakes. *sigh*
May/not need both front/rear and all the other bells/whistles/ribbons and bows, but definitely time for work to be done.
Guy I'd been using for car-thangs and such-like moved back to the mainland...wouldn't you know! He was a real McGyver, as he once said "I can fix anything, given enough time to figure it out!" Not to mention I had to force him to take money for work done. Very humble and honest sort...sure miss him!
Have texted a couple ppl...one I was referred to by a neighbor and another I saw mentioned on Nextdoor, but figure all you Punawebbers are the bestest most-trusty resource. :-D
Mahalo!
(We now return you all to your regularly scheduled Punawebbing.)

Building a kit home this summer |

I've started the kit home-building process in Fern Acres and have gotten a few quotes-
$17,000 for a 75-foot drive, 40 x 40 pad, and septic install. Add on $2000 for the house plan with specs and $1000 for engineer approval. That was from Island Boundary, and they pinned our front corners. Very responsive. Nick Moore was also very helpful.
I was also quoted between $350 and $400 for labor and some land clearing from two contractors, but that was NOT for a kit home. I am waiting for a couple more to get back to me.
But now I need to buy those house plans and am choosing between HPM and Honsador, their smallest units. I did the 'finishing math' for the pre-approved Argus homes, and it almost came out the same way. Plus, I'd have to do a lot myself.
HPM is very upfront with their prices. Honsador is not, but I will persevere.
Does anyone have an opinion between the two or any contractor advice? Greg Henning has been very responsive so far, but I don't have a quote yet.

I saw the Street View car pulling out of a fruit market off Highway 130 near Paradise Drive about an hour ago. Easy to spot, has a 3 foot vertical post on the roof with camera container on top. Doors say Street View.

"The Punaweb platform has been displaying warning messages since early this AM."
"The webmaster was contacted at that time and is working on resolving the situation."
Any status update on this issue?

Where should I buy my roof? |

I have to re-roof a small 8x16 ft shed roof structure (16x20 w/ overhangs). Planning on 16 ft length metal roof, but the roof is not used for catchment so metal is not strictly required. I have previously purchased overstock commercial roofing (heavy gauge) from a local contractor, but that supply has dried up. Please share your experiences on where I should buy my roof, which gauge is solid enough, etc. Also if you know anyone looking to sell some 16 ft metal roofing.
I tend to build like this: 2x_ rafters to code, 1/2" plywood, 30# roofing felt, plywood spacers for drainage, 2x4 purlins, HPM Pattern 7 (exposed fasteners), HPM screws. Any suggestions for improvements? I like having the plywood underneath for the noise reduction and to prevent condensation dripping inside.
This will be a non-air-conditioned living space.
Thanks for suggestions and ideas!
