If you love Pink Floyd, I'd highly recommend catching this presentation at the 'Imiloa on Friday, October 11. My husband and I along with several friends saw it on September 13th.
The remastered soundtrack, coupled with the outstanding audio system at 'Imiloa is truly amazing! In fact, numerous people attending the show on the 13th swore that the saxophone during the song "Us and them" was actually a live musician in the planetarium with us!
Amazing graphical show as well!

ETA - Did you know Alan Parsons was the sound engineer for the original Dark Side of the Moon album?

Has anyone taken the new covid booster for 2024? My doctor suggested both wife and I take it since we're over 65 and we travel a lot. Was wandering if there was any side effects worth mentioning. Hopefully nothing like the double dose flu vaccine for seniors that made me sick for days.....

HAWAIIAN VOLCANO OBSERVATORY DAILY UPDATE
U.S. Geological Survey
Tuesday, September 17, 2024, 9:51 AM HST (Tuesday, September 17, 2024, 19:51 UTC)
KILAUEA (VNUM #332010)
19°25'16" N 155°17'13" W, Summit Elevation 4091 ft (1247 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: WATCH
Current Aviation Color Code: ORANGE
Activity Summary: Kīlauea volcano is erupting in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park from a new fissure vent that opened within Nāpau Crater this morning between 4:00 and 5:00 AM HST. Current eruptive activity began with a small eruption that occurred on the evening September 15 from a fissure located just west of Nāpau Crater and lasted a few hours. A second phase of the eruption began at approximately 6:00 PM last night. Activity decreased overnight until approximately 4:00 AM this morning, when a third phase of the eruption began. The eruption is occurring within a closed and remote area of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. There is no immediate threat to life or infrastructure. Chain of Craters Road, which is closed, is located far downslope and downwind of the eruption. Residents of nearby subdivisions may experience volcanic gas emissions related to this activity which may increase and decrease over the coming hours and days. The Volcano Alert Level/Aviation Color Code remains at WATCH/ORANGE. No changes have been detected in the lower East Rift Zone or Southwest Rift Zone.
Summit Observations: Approximately 17 earthquakes were detected beneath the Kīlauea summit region over the past 24 hours, at depths of 1–3 km (0.6–1.9 mi) below the ground surface, and with magnitudes of M2 or less. Summit tiltmeters (UWE, SDH, and IKI, to the northwest, southwest, and east of the summit respectively) continued recording deflationary tilt throughout the day yesterday, with UWE recording approximately 10 microradians of tilt in the last 24 hours. This pattern is consistent with magma leaving the summit storage chambers and transferring to the middle East Rift Zone. The most recent measurement of SO2 emission rate at the summit was 75 tonnes per day on August 20, 2024.
Rift Zone Observations: This morning, several lava fountains approximately ten meters (yards) high are generating lava flows on the floor of Nāpau Crater. This fissure system opened between 4:00 and 5:00 AM HST this morning as detected by NOAA GOES satellite thermal data and USGS Hawaiian Volcano Obseratory (HVO) infrasound, seismic, and camera instruments. Currently, the fissure system in Nāpau is about 0.5 km long (.3 mi) and cuts east-west across the northern crater floor. The fissure appears to have opened just west of Nāpau early this morning and propagated eastward as the eruption progressed. As of 8:30 AM, approximately 25-30% of Nāpau Crater floor has been covered by lava, which is confined to the crater. Photos taken during an HVO overflight this morning are available here: September 17, 2024 —Kīlauea middle East Rift Zone eruption | U.S. Geological Survey (usgs.gov).

Been trying to call them all week at their Ponahawai location. Phone seems to be dead. So I went there today and they have a guard right behind the glass doors not letting anyone in. They won't say what's going on except to say to check back in a couple weeks.

This post is under the influence of hormonal imbalance. Consider me a drunk person upon this writing. And my apologies to Rob and moderator 2 in advance. I will take my sabbatical leave voluntarily if you find this post too much.
WARNING: May contain expletive words.
I made this thread to be able to say something that will not go off topic from other posters. Coz I don’t like infiltrating other threads that has nothing to do with the topic.
Let me go back a year ago where I posted something harmless, friendly, simply asking for something. You jumped into my thread and say a lot of things irrelevant to the post I made. It was a roller coaster. There was insults, ad hominem and all. It happened not once but all of my posts (if my recollection is right). Few months later, I decided to take a break because every correspondence was becoming toxic.
Recently, I came back, even have to ask a new password because I already forgot. Then I saw this post entitled Has PW been infiltrated by ChatGPT? The very first one I read after logging in. I read all of that, and you are still the root of the chaos. That’s when I suggest you need some serious lobotomy. Im not sorry for that. I said what I said. Im not taking it back. Coz you seriously need an overhaul personality and character building. Then called us Lunatics who run the Asylum. And Yes! You are still the CEO.
Recently, I posted my own topic, You brought that up, again, in my harmless thread that has nothing to do with the topic. Why do you keep doing that? Is this your kind of sport? You keep on jumping thread to thread throwing bombs yet, when somebody retaliate and call you out, you go on hiding and trying to forget it.
Now, tell me, how else did I offended you in my very own post? NOTHING!! Yet, you keep on barging like a lunatic, loonies which by the way – your words.
After knowing your “contributions” in the island as a professional, a scientist, astronomer, however you call yourself, You deserved respect. Yes! You do! But all of that went down the drain. From 100 to 0 respect I have for you. You don’t deserve any. You dont act according to your profession and age. And by saying that, I will go after your posts and do the exact same thing you did to me. I will stoop DOWN to your 5 year old level of underdeveloped brain cells. Nonsense, trash, rude, whatever I can come up with. Is it worth my time? NO. But I can play your games all too well.
Ive been traveling a lot, I move around. Ive met people from different walks of life, Ive met a lot of pricks but you, TomK is an effing Cactus!!!! In case you don’t know! Yes, you are! You are hopeless. Waste of oxygen.
And to all other punawebbers, moderator, I admire your patience in dealing with someone like TomK. It's a piece of work. Really. haha!

Rob was kind enough to share with us that after 20 years of being the sole moderator for Punaweb, the thrill is gone and he has other interests occupying his time. Understandable. It probably would have been easier to just close up shop, so I’m glad he found a way to keep it up and running. We all know how valuable Punaweb has been over the years, far beyond the entertainment it provides, as a source of information on local events. The bigger the event, the more valuable the information in this forum. So I want to thank Rob for all of that and bringing it up to this point, and I want to thank Moderator 2 for helping Rob take a well deserved break.
One thing I’m curious about is how Punaweb operates financially. There are no ads or membership fees. I can’t even find a donate link to click on. I only recall Rob asking for donations once in the 8 years that I have been a member, but that was for another organization unrelated to Punaweb. Perhaps he gets grants? Certainly deserving. The bottom line is that it’s free to all of us.
Until I learn otherwise, I’m going to assume that Moderator 2 is an unpaid position. Moderator 1 as well, for that matter. With that in mind, perhaps there are some ways that we can minimize their work load. Like behaving ourselves, but that one should be obvious.
I hope we don’t abuse this forum to the point of losing it.
