  subdivisions that allow temp dwellings
Posted by: jnemcik - 05-03-2005, 10:11 AM - Forum: Punatalk - Replies (1)

Hi all,

We bought on Leilani and need now to find a way to live while we build over the next year. Leilani doesn't allow for ANY temp structures so now am faced with either renting or buying more land that allows such things as trailers or containers.

Any of you know of what subdivisions that turn a blind eye to temp dwellings?

  Bamboo as a crop
Posted by: mella l - 05-02-2005, 04:52 PM - Forum: Punatalk - No Replies

Just came across a very interesting web site, regarding a sustainable, environmentally beneficial, and useful, carefree crop to raise. Has anyone been to Bamboo Village Hawaii? Check this out www.bamboovillagehawaii.org I would love to use bamboo in the construction of our home.

  Emily-more details on container?
Posted by: NancyF - 04-20-2005, 08:24 AM - Forum: Punatalk - Replies (3)

This sounds like a great idea! How much did it cost to ship, and where did you buy it? Other details about how did you load it with your cars, how to get it from Hilo to location. You could help a lot of us here. We might even load building materials to bring!

do you know any contractors who will just put up your shell. We want to do the inside ourselves. Every one I have talked to will only do it if they do everything. Hoping to move back in a few months. Used Argus Lumber for plans in the past and they are wonderful to deal with for materials and plans

  travel trailer
Posted by: Glenn P - 04-16-2005, 03:51 PM - Forum: Punatalk - Replies (9)

We will be building in the near future and we would like to live on our property during construction. Does anyone know how I can either rent or buy a travel trailer to park on the site? My hope is that by living on the property, it will help discourage and stealing of buildidng supplies and be easier then renting some where off site.

Thanks,
Glenn P

  Fern Forest Information

We hope to spend the winter in Fern Forest this year and would love to hear from someone from the area to get a better idea of what it's like there. We would like to know how much a load of cinders or mac nuts costs. How much does a load of concrete cost delivered to the area?

  Surveyors

Hi y'all.

I'll be on Big Island the 3rd week in May, looking to have a proper survey done on my 1 acre lot. I'm seeking info on fees, and would welcome any recommendations on surveyors in Puna.

Thanks.
