Assisted Living
#1
Anyone know of any good assisted living facilites on the big island within easy driving distance of Hilo/Keaau/Volcano?

We might be able to move to the Island within the next 60 days. My mother has terminal brain cancer and currently lives in assited living in Seattle, I'd love if I could move her to our area so I could be nearer to her.

Either way, she's still just a plane ride away from both Juneau Alaska and Hilo Hawaii to Seattle Washington.

Dayna there are a number of assisted living arrangements here, we even have a couple of home assisted living houses (licensed residential care homes) in our Keaau neighborhood (and there is one on 130 & one on right as you enter Hilo)....I think the main problem would be to find one that has a place open (we found that last year when looking for FIL options & he qualified for the VA care home in Hilo, but no space).

Best to start looking into the adult services from the county:

The big commercial assisted living on island is the Regency in Hualalai was the option we were looking into at the end, but DC area was an easier:

Hope this helps!

I've contacted them, it looks like a place my Mom would like. At least I could drive there! She has no interest in doing a residential care home. She (while terminal) is pretty independant and wants her own apartment, but needs medication managment and 24 hour staff in case of seizures or stroke. Glioblastoma Multiforme is a terrible terrible cancer.
