I noticed the worst offenders are items the cashier has to look up (like fruit and produce). I have noticed that most consumers don't make a sound when they are undercharged, but scream quite loudly when the reverse happens.
My first-ever purchase at a Walmart was a bike for my daughter and the cashier accidentally double-charged me for it. Of course I noticed it because a bike is kind of a high ticket item... but that was my introduction to Walmart.
