I am glad we have forums, and I often attend them myself. I think we should be realistic, however, and acknowledge the fact that a very low percentage of voters attend them and an even lower percentage base their decision on them. The typical Puna voter, IMHO, votes based on candidate visibility, personal contacts, and what friends and ethnic cohorts have to say. Forums and blogs are nice for us wonks who follow all this closely, but most folks are indifferent to them. Fred Blas and Faye Hanohano skipped most forums last time around, to considerable outrage in the blogosphere. Both won handily in the general election, although Faye had a close call in the primary. I know the wonk vote might turn the tide in a really, really close election, but that would be a rare case. I find candidate forums entertaining, though, and suggest that others go, if for no other reason than to see some of the foolishness and squirming that goes on. I may bring popcorn.

Jerry, that would probably apply pretty accurately most everywhere.

@ Pau Hana: Incumbents are not excused. Every single candidate has been invited. Most of them have RSVP'd.
