Endodontist?

Well, that darn troublesome crown is now going to be a root canal, with high probability of an implant on the other side, since that tooth already had a root canal. Oh, the joys of major dental work.

My dentist Dr. Tiffany Wang at Kawili Dental, who I like and trust, referred me to a Dr. Sakamoto; anybody have 1st hand experience with this guy? I have had some really bad experiences with dental hacks in the past, which is a big part of why these teeth are now in such big trouble, so I want to make sure this is done right.

I have been to Brian Sakamoto two times. He was very good and a very nice guy. He was good at explaining what he was going to do. He was very young when I first went to him. I think it may have been his first year in business. That was in his old office. I would feel very confident recommending him. Having said that, I need some more work done and was considering going to Thailand this time to save big bucks. I went a few years ago and had a very good experience there. I had about $6000 of work done for about $1200. The entire trip qualified as a medical expense on my taxes also.

Carol, I too have 'direct mouth' experience w. Sakamoto's work. He's still young, but not new in practice any more--quite experienced in fact. He was careful to take and check progress xrays, alignment and cleanout all done carefully and the fill material has not caused any issues. I'd go to him again if needed.

I am glad to hear such good reports of Dr Sakamoto. I go later this month for a root canal, possible extraction. My only complaint is that the office does not take my dental insurance. I'm trying to find out if I can apply for reimbursement from them myself as there is no network provider here. Peggy
