Since when did they start fingerprinting our children? I seen this on a message board and thought, it was important enough to bring it to every ones attention. Did anyone get the same call?
I received a telephone call from the Principal of Keaau High School which was prerecorded letting me know when I could go to the school and pay for dues and purchase uniforms for the upcoming school year. To my disbelief, the Principal also mentioned there would be a new system at Keaau High School which would require my child's fingerprint to purchase lunch. I am bewildered by this casual mention and blatant disregard for my child's right to privacy. What will happen to my child's fingerprint? Is it being stored or given to the Feds? I believe the money used to install this equipment could have been better spent on items which will actually enhance and benefit my child's educational experience, especially with the poor ratings given Keaau High.
Thoughts anyone?

I don't know. I'm not generally one of the paranoid conspiracy types but I don't really like the idea of it either. I understand the benefits but I still don't like it. If it was my kid I think I would be calling to ask what the alternatives were. The government(s) have had my prints for years, but it was my choice.
I'm a firm believer in parents getting their kids finger printed and keeping them themselves, as a record along with their birth certificates.

Sorry but all I can see here is irony. Every Facebook photo, comment, status update, friend request, and pages viewed is far more valuable information to the government than fingerprints and it's already in the database, voluntarily given, and permanent. You can wear gloves to hide your fingerprints, but kids these days can't have a modern social life without turning everything they do over to the corporations and the governments.

Many schools are using a digital recognition system using thumbprints in place of the often lost, stolen, or misplaced lunch cards. The system is supposed to be self contained, with no connections to outside databases.

I am with oink on this never heard of being fingerprinted for lunch. It is normal in most places to fingerprint kids but the only copies of the prints are given to the parents. It's really great idea! I would inquire as to why my kids need to be printed for lunch.

why not just go directly to chipping, where everyone get an implanted chip with a upc code so that if your wife's late to get home, you can just scan her code and know if she's stuck in traffic, at the mall, or at her lover's. Wives will know your husband's hidden bank accounts. Of course, all information will be kept private and the gov't will never have access to them.

I wouldn't want my child to be finger printed and treated like a criminal in school. I wasn't asked to fingerprint my children in the hospital. I would consider homeschooling if it came to that. My children will no longer have to eat their gmo food in the lunch room anymore.

If I want to get my childs fingerprints for their safety, I can do it myself and keep a copy. I don't need the Principal to do it. No conspiracy here.
