Satsuma plum or mandarin?

If plum, neighbors have family in the Volcano area that have the fruiting trees...I was looking at getting a seedling/cutting, but the neighbors have told me that they only grow up there... if you cannot find, maybe can get you a cutting, if you are upper elevation...

if the manadarin...no idea...sorry

Ohh no not the plum as I am at a lower elevation, am looking for the Mandarin! Thank you so very much for the offer though! Will keep searching :-)

You might be better off buying a tree since the seedlings will not be identical to the parent though you could get lucky.

According to the Plant-it Hawaii Nursery's website, the Satsuma tangerine is seedless which may be why you can't find seedlings.

Fortunately this wholesale nursery (kurtistown) opens their doors to the public a couple or few days a year and you can contact them for more info at their welcome web page:

Personally, when planting fruit trees I would prefer to know what fruit I will be harvesting in 5-15 years than planting out unknown seedlings and hope to like what comes to fruition.
