How's your experience with reliability with TWC? Just for lower HPP please. Have you noticed any improvement from the last year? Thanks!

I'm on 1st Street. Service goes out from time to time, but not often. Less than once a month? I think the longest it ever took to get back up and running was about 4 or 5 hours a month or two ago. Otherwise it's only out for 15 minutes to an hour. It's faster now than last year, but for service at the end of the line you'll notice the speed mostly during the day. On hours of peak usage (4 - 10 PM) it can slow down especially for streaming movies. I just bought a DOCSIS 3.0 eight stream modem and that had done a great deal to relieve the bandwidth congestion. More of the signal actually reaches us here in lower HPP. Not the case with a DOCSIS 1.0 or 2.0 modem.

This is one of the reasons for the increase in speed and decrease in congestion.

Is this something that can increase speed with people using Aloha Broadband? If it is... 1) where can you purchase one in Hilo? 2) how much does it cost? And 3)...where in line does it connect with regard to my receiver box outside the house...to my router.....to my computer and wifi tv? I pay for 4 down and 2 up...but during evening hours I can't stream any (SD) movies because it buffers constantly from about 6pm till 11pm. During the day its fine!

I believe each service provider has a list of their approved modems. Check with Aloha Broadband, Time Warner has the list online. I bought my new modem from Amazon.
