Kinda strange that the coffee shop went bust. Last time I was there it was pretty busy. Pahoa needs a nice relaxed coffee shop IMO. With comfy chairs to relax in.

It's probably not it, but Aaron Chang and Clark Little are both internationally famous for their wave photography. Much of their work is out of Hawaii.

Suggestion: write this up and hang it in the current relaxed Pahoa coffeehouse, which is lately the Tin Shack.

Chas,
if this was the internet cafe you are thinking about, the old website lists some of the local artists,

hikatz,

Yes, I'm pretty sure that was the place. Thanks for the link. I checked the artists and haven't found the painting yet.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. So far the most likely artist seems to be Tom Rissacher, suggested by shave_ice.

I have a trip planned for next week so maybe I'll poke around a little while I'm there to see what I can find.

Chas, when you're here, come into One Gallery in Hilo (across from Pineapples -- after March 1 on the Bay Front next to Salvation Army store). We have lots of local artists who do waves. Maybe you'll find who it was there. http://onegalleryhawaii.com/onegalleryartists.html -Diane

ps-I gallery sit on Mondays.

Aloha, a great local artist that did the rec' center in Pahoa, and the art at Zoo in Hilo is Sharlene Lofgreen (Hall) her works include great water scape of our beautiful area. She is great... U can Google her and some of her works pop up. Good luck~
