hikers?

We have someone coming to visit us soon who would like to hike down into the Waipio Valley, but no one in our household is fit enough for this Hike. They have visited Hawaii many times, are in great shape, and understand the place and culture here, but don't want to do this alone. Any suggestions?

Have them put up notices at local hostels. If they're renting a car, or borrowing yours, they can make some money offering a ride there too.

Let them hike down; you can get a ride down with a local tour company at the top and join them. Likely they'll appreciate a ride back up on return as it is very steep. The other side of the valley is steep as well.
