well, that made me smile. I was in a Ulysses group too. It was a lot of fun! That particular group included a world class Joyce scholar (I first read Ulysses in his seminar), and everyone in the group was a repeat reader.
Whether in a class or a private group, the reader of today will get the best from Joyce reading as a group.
I was in a Finnegans Wake group that read one page a week. It took us nine years to finish it. I made lifelong friends in that group and had such fun. In both Joyce groups, we read the entire text aloud as we went through it. We would read a section and then discuss. Not that all books need to be read aloud. [:p]
One book I have never tackled is Gravity's Rainbow.
I am always open to doing more Joyce.
I think the Odyssey is one of the greatest works ever composed, and would love to do it with a group.
