Anyone grown any of these trees? We've seen a few in HPP and Hilo. Heard they are hard to grow from seeds.

I have heard that these grow easily from seed, so much so that they can be invasive.

Birdmove, if you do a search on rainbow eucalyptus, there are several threads about them in 'Farming and Gardening in Puna' that might provide you with some answers.

IN front of where you pay your water bill in HIlo, is a stand of these. I wanted to plant them until I saw this group there. They are pretty nasty when they get full grown. Pretty bark, but no much else- from what I could see. Go check them out!

"Heard they are hard to grow from seeds."
Even young rainbow eucalyptus produce numerous volunteer seedlings. We cut down two of them, maybe 15-20' tall, after finding keiki all over our garden beds and even considerable distances away. |
