The End of Time - Movie
#1
Netflix streaming just added the film 'The End of Time' to their list a day or two ago. It's a philosophical and scientific look at Time, and it's related aspects. There's a section filmed in Puna, showcasing the volcano, lava fields, rainforest, hula dancers, Jack Thompson, etc.

The pace is deliberate and contemplative, so if you start to doze off, just run it ahead to the 29 minute mark, that's where the Big Island segment starts.
Also, at 1 hour 26 minutes in, they travel to the top of Mauna Kea, including the control room of one of the observatories.

Beautifully filmed.

Profound film, HOTPE, mahalo for this.

This is great footage of Puna, and (Mr. Tom! Watch the control room part; I thought of you, Sir!)

"The End of Time" also holds a message for all of us. TIME, as it were. Scientific evaluation is fact (IMO), combined with philosophical interpretation, is worthy of consideration. Life seems so confined when we live in our environment here in Hawai'i (Puna).

Some may find this "hokey" (or whatever that word is), however, it is well done.

Thank you for this. Aloha to you.

ETA: You mention Jack Thompson, and that caught my attention. He is a wonderful man, and created a most successful business we all know now as "Tihati Productions". His wife, Char (they were childhood sweethearts), is the epitome of a kanaka maoli woman. Love them both. Watched him thrice!!! They both entertained at the New York World's Fair in 1963 & 1964 where our paths crossed. Again, mahalo so much. Fond, fond memories. (Sorry, again, OT)

I'll try and watch when I can, thanks! The reviews of the film aren't great, but am curious to see which control room they used (I don't think it was ours!). Unfortunately I don't use netflix streaming and it's not available on DVD yet, but will keep a lookout for it.
