12 students from the entire State of Hawai’i have been awarded the prestigious 2014 UH Chancellor's Scholarship by the University of Hawai'i....and THREE of them are from Pahoa!!!! That’s 25% of the awards went to Pahoa Area students…. Congratulations to:

There is more than one high school in Puna. Congratulations to the winners of 2014 Chancellor's Scholarship to those students as well.

The three listed above are the recipients of the UH-Hilo Chancellor's Scholarship, all 12 are listed here:

There is also the UH Chancellor's Award for Manoa, which is also a state wide scholarship for students attending the Manoa campus... Although I know of at least one Keaau HS recipient, the press release may not have gone out yet, as the system still seems to have the 2013 lists up...
