Chaya/Tree Spinach
#1
How do you cook tree spinach? Or can you eat it raw?

My Chaya only does well in the greenhouse (I'm at 1400 feet), and it's taking up some valuable real estate. I want to eat some to see if I like it, and if not, get rid of it.

maybe never mind, read up on it in Permacopia.

"Cook for at least 5 minutes to deactivate cyanide"

Cyanide? I think THAT's why I haven't done anything with the plant. Time for it to go. Anybody want it? Grows easily from stems and I have about 18 feet of stem.

Regular spinach contains cyanide as well.

Believe it or there are allot of things we eat that surprisingly contain cyanide, apple seeds, almonds, millet sprouts, lima beans, soy, bamboo shoots, cassava for example but not enough to kill you.
