I would definitely agree to check the connections to make sure nothing is loose first. Also maybe some canned air to clean out any fans you see. Hopefully the power supply is not a proprietary one (like a Dell or Gateway) and can be replaced easily if that is the issue. More than likely though a loose cable and the CPU thermal overload protection shut itself off to prevent damage.

We did take the cover off and blow it out with canned air. The fans are running, but there was quite a build-up of dust in there. Still won't boot up. Taking it to town soon.

I noticed yesterday that Mr. K's recycling offers reuse, recycling, repairs, and parts for computers. That's the one by Kadota's liquors in Hilo.
