Absentee Ballots mailed already
#1

Forgot to mention this but my permanent absentee ballot arrived a couple days ago in HPP. I immediately filled it out and returned it before the glue stuck to the envelope and would encourage anyone else who has already received their ballot to fill it out and return it sooner rather than later, because you never know what the Elections office will do or not, or whose votes they will choose to count or not come Election Day!

Please don't wait till Elections Day because the same idjits are running the elections show and could very well screw up again! Better to get your vote in sooner, than to trust in the Elections Division to do the right thing if an emergency should arise.

Or then again it could give them almost a whole month to loose them.

Given that it's necessary to drive to Hilo at least 1-3x a week, it's just not a big deal to vote absentee in person, that way the paperwork can get lost right there in a County building instead of relying on the USPS or a private courier. More efficient.

Has anyone bothered to read the back of the yellow envelope?

Not sure how many people recall this but some time back Steve Hirakami (Green Party) was running for council against Gary Safarik (Democrat). Late in the night the count was well in Hirakami's favor BUT for some strange reason it took 8 or 9 hours for the ballots from HPP to make it to Hilo after the polls closed. No explanation. When the sun came up Safarik had won.
