How's the swimming in tide pools and Champagne Pond?
Can folks drive into tide pools and park again?
Are the fish there?
What is current status?

Waiopae Tide pools - I wouldnt suggest driving into the tide pools. Cars dont like swimming in them much although one did during the storm.
Parking is by mailboxes. There are signs showing where parking is as you come down Kapoho Kai. The Waiopae Rd / Kapoho Kai Dr parking area - as soon as the gravel area is cleared of debris from filling of containers - is going to be open to I believe 10 cars at a time. Parking out in front will be much longer to open if it ever does again.
There are fish, actually lots of fish as not many snorkelers disturbing them.

[8D]good catch!
I meant to ask if the previous parking area was open.
No parking nearer than mail boxes?
Do you know if the water is clean/safe?

The previous parking are was destroyed by the tidal surge. Most vehicles would be damaged trying to park there and it floods at high tide.
It's a very short walk.
We have provided a lua at the new parking area.
The water is probably tested more than any other place on the Big Island.Like all waters in the state after the last hurricane, there could be higher concentrations of nitrogen.
If the water was unsafe I guess those that test it would post a notice.
