Teiana Kekuawela was born 6 lbs., 9.8 oz. & 19 inches on Wednesday, November 12 at 5:09 p.m. in Hilo and now she’s home with her family off Apa‘a Street in P#257;hoa. Her parents Darissa & Kalani couldn't be happier. It's the same house her older sister Tehani was brought home to from the hospital. And before that -- her mama and ‘anakala Sid after they were born. It's the same house her Papa Sid and Nana Bunny built in 1978. Even though the pictures have been taken down and packed away, and there are boxes of belongings in the room that was once set up to be her nursery -- there is profound joy from her ‘ohana for every moment more they get to fill this home with memories and aloha. Here's to hoping they and other families just like them downslope of the #PunaLavaFlow will be sleeping soundly tonight -- for the first time in more than a month, Hawai‘i County Civil Defense officials confirm there is no surface activity within six miles of Apa‘a Street.
