screw the light! We have a multi million dollar park to build!!!
Worse off? Why not just get on with the light at the malama intersection first? That is a lot more dangerous. Think of all the moms with the kids in back going through that intersection! Heck, I would think that kids riding in back seats on the way to the market to are at more of risk!

The traffic light and the park come out of two separate pockets, so its not an either/or. Traffic light is on a state highway, so that's DOT $. The park is already funded and that's county.
please keep your jurisdictions in their proper places.

I'm coming to realize there is no point to complaining about money being spent on any project here. Maybe its not in the order you want, but at least something is happening.

There is absolutely no reason at all to put traffic light there. I haven't seen any accidents there in a long time and if there were so many accidents happening there, there would be the customary pile of car parts debris left behind on the sides of the road.

Therefore, it's the ideal location, and will receive priority installation.

It looks like the Pahoa Post Office road intersection will get a light in Phase 3 of the Keaau-Pahoa Road Project. While the egress to HAAS is at that intersection, the reason for the light was more for the Post Office access. The irony is that the Post Office has said they will be moving to the new Brison center, the shopping part doesn't concern them. It looks like that center will go in but maybe scaled down without a main grocery store.

Because of funding inequities; HAAS, like most Charter Schools, is certainly endangered. They may be strangled by the DOE, but I really can't see them moving. If you have ever visited their campus, you will have noticed how they make Pahoa High seem kinda Ghetto.
If the Charter School model is unsustainable, they will thrive as a private school.
