The bottom line is, are low-income or fixed-income people going to be able to buy their cannabis at a dispensary at that price?
I didn't see a price mentioned...

HOTPE, thank you for clearing or trying to make some since to the multiple gun charges Mike is facing. Maybe the guns were bought and brought by Mike from the mainland several decades ago,(prior to new Hawaiian laws?).
As to the collective part of the story. Maybe he was not buying the extra illegal mmj products from others up front, he may have been trying to help others by holding and selling? So much grey area surrounding the mmj use and attainment was left open by the state of hawaii, that I find it very hard to see mike as anything more than a victim of the current and changing mmj laws. Maybe Mike truly was trying to follow hawaiian mmj laws the best way shown or written? Maybe Mike did ask appropriate questions to the Right folks in respectful positions of law? The possible multiple ways of entrapment used by police, feds, NED, and our D.A. does not feel right to some either. The forging of Dr signatures may not have been legal? Jmo here, very extreme and excessive police behaviour For Someone who was so open and honest with the proper authorities from the beginning about his collective ideas and community needs. Mike may have acted quicker than our state or DOH allowed black market mmj approach, for legally helping those obtain their legal mmj? P.S. The Officer in this article clearly acted like a community monster in uniform, yet he gets out on less bail than Mike, why?. He probably did not even spend the night in jail let alone 6 nights like Mike may have?. http://hawaiitribune-herald.com/news/loc...on-attempt Kapoho Joe, this is related. The 16 year old girl was used and abused by someone in uniform due to the personal use of marijuana (lowest priority here). Sure glad this guy was caught so this type of authority behaviour does not become the norm, if it hadn't already?. I wonder if Mike is on the same county paid leave program the dlnr officer is on, or offered the same quality attorney rates and help?

Picture in the paper looked like a "dispensary".... possible multiple ways of entrapment used by police, feds, NED, and our D.A. Yes -- it's apparently totally okay to forge a prescription if you're "undercover".

This whole Marcus OSHIRO Bill is troubling on many fronts. The most troubling is that the few, connected, businessmen and lawmakers who are AWARDED the first dispensary licenses are going FULL OUT in establishing and maintaining a total monopoly on "legal" cannibus in Hawaii. Making one of my earlier statements ring louder: Green harvest will return....and fail again. The friends of legislators like Oshiro will stand at nothing less than total control. They will fail.
Another troubling piece is reciprocity -- the piece in the new dispensary law that honors out of state medicinal patient cards. Now here is how the dispensaries get immediately tied in to the visitor industry. Because now, tourists don't need to go "kimo the surfer" to find some smoke. They can simply go in to one of the dispensaries and purchase to their heart's (and lungs) content! Remember, there are 23 legal states and counting. This is a HUGE piece that not too many people are talking about. So in all reality, the dispensary system will work great for tourists, as well as for the more populated sectors of the state like Oahu. They will then use tax revenue to make the cops happy and justify further green harvest-like initiative in the "high grow" areas of Puna, Ka'u, Big Island, Kauai, Molokai. The politics around all of this is relentless. It is ALL politics and money my friends. One suggestion? GO TO GREGGOR NOW and see where he stands. He will soundly defeat Russell and align himself with the Oshiros and others of this legislative world. Russell has no current power or influence in the narrative. It is Greggor and Joy that folks will need to make sure are truly representing areas like Puna...that stand to get the sh*ty end of the stick once again -- based upon Oahu politics that rarely care for people outside of Oahu. Truth.

Having 1,000,000 US to acquire the distribution (license) is insane! And no private plants with a license? This new law could have been an economic boon to many in HI, instead of this boondoggle. And Greggor has been completely MIA on dengue, why is he the to-go- to in Puna?

It's still an economic boom for the chosen few. Greggor has been completely MIA on dengue For that matter, so has Kenoi.

Greggor, like him or hate him, will defeat Russell in the election. Like him or hate him, Greggor knows how to run a campaign and secures enough votes to get him elected. Russell has been largely ineffective. This is no swipe on him, simply stating that Russell don't have many friends in the chambers of the legislature - hard to make changes or pass laws with no friends. Greggor on the other hand is currently being swoo'd and woo'd by leaders of the chambers already -- even before being elected. For all good reason, they too are convinced that Russell is out the door. So how does this all affect the MM dispensary law? Refer back to my earlier post. Political friends -- of which Greggor stands to be -- play politics. In order to get those highway funds for 130 or Alternative roadway..or schools or water.... -- Greggor will play ball. Even possibly throwing the thousands of Puna MM patients under the proverbial bus by politicizing the need to limit access to "home grown" growing. All this to appease a certain voter bloc (law enforcement included) which will in turn, lead to continued green harvest. That is my theory at least.

The new 2016 legislature is in session and bills are being submitted. There are two marijuana bills and they restrict medical marijuana more. No home grown and requirement to only be bought from a dispensary. That means a receipt will be required.

requirement to only be bought from a dispensary
Exactly: by making the black market illegal, they've ensured that nobody will ever use it. |
