Highway 130 Construction Updates
#21
Pog, I lived in South Jersey. I never experienced Somerville circle.

After getting your driving license, navigating through a circle was a right of passage to prove you knew how to drive. If I remember right the "Airport Circle" near Camden was multi lane. That was a little scary at 17 years old with less than a couple of hundred miles logged.

I have noticed that all the circles I knew have been reconfigured and replaced with traffic lights. I think it's because of the HUGE increase in traffic from back when I was a teenager. I doubt Puna's traffic could ever approach New Jersey's, even if every empty lot was occupied. So I do think a circle (or "roundabout" as some like to call it) would work. Again, that's only if....[Big Grin]

Your description is of the old style 'traffic circles'.

Modern roundabouts, like the one being constructed in Pahoa and across the USA and many other countries do in fact have 'YIELD' signage, with traffic in the circle having right of way and traffic entering the circle yielding.
