Amazon minimum down
#1
Amazon seems to have REDUCED its minimum order for free shipping, from $50 to $35.

Very nice...I wonder how I'll be paying for that.

"Free" shipping will now take 3-5 weeks instead of the usual 2-3.

You pay for everything "free" at a business:
Free shipping
Free bags at a retail store
Free HELCO recipes
Free phone books

It's all calculated into the final cost of the product sold.

I once had a customer howl at me because she had lost my 800 phone number.
"I had to look 20 minutes to find it!"
I replied that our phone number is listed on every invoice she receives, statements, price lists, and emails.
"But that's not the free number!"
It would have cost her a nickle to call me on the business line, instead of 20 minutes in time searching so she could get a "free" call.
Free is almost never free.
Maybe the little 1"x1" samples at Costco. Until you walk past the 60" TV on sale, and buy one. Or two.

You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

We got a package from Amazon last week. After I had signed for it the Fed x driver hands it to me and said it was a little wet. (under statement) it was soaked to the point that the cardboard was deteriorating and some of the contents were broken. The whole thing had to be returned and was not re ordered.

I have noticed how much longer it's taking Amazon to ship. They let my order sit for many weeks these days.

New $35 minimum for free ship is to match Walmart's. They lowered the price w/ zero fanfare.

it's been taking 3-5 weeks as is. Maybe it will now take 2-3 months.

I'm finding more and more items that don't qualify for prime shipping. Not sure if it's Hawaii in general, or just my po box street address. Even a little 12v pump I ordered a couple years ago to general delivery would not ship now.

There's some stuff i try to buy from Amazon that won't ship to ANY address in Hawaii, even a regular street address in Honolulu. I end up going to EBay often.

Happens to me all the time.

Sometimes I complain to Amazon and they fix the shipping restrictions.

Sometimes another size is okay. (Free shipping on the "large", but the "small" cannot be shipped to Hawaii at all.)

Sometimes there's another Amazon vendor who will ship. (Which can be helpful in getting Amazon to fix the shipping restrictions.)

Sometimes it's cheaper to order the same product from outside the US. (FedEx "ground" from America is $60, but FedEx "international saver" from Europe is $20. Uhh, okay...)

Unfortunately it's cheaper for Amazon to simply ignore 1-2 million customers.
