The only project to make the cut on Hawaii Island is the latest realignment project for Saddle Road,
Thank you HDOT, for funding only one project. And picking one where nobody lives.
Let's be a little honest here: a lot of East Side people commute to Kona via the Saddle Road and the stretch that is being upgraded is, in terms of the number of accidents per mile per week, is one of the most dangerous sections of road in the state.

Saddle Road is certainly traveled by a fair number of people.
But, is it the busiest road that could use upgrading?
If Big Island residents voted on their choice for the #1 project, would it be Saddle Road?
Maybe it's just me, but it wouldn't be my first pick.
