My god I miss Hawaii!!!!!
#1
So I'm just posting this to tell you all how much I appreciate Hawaii and the people here. Some of you might have answered some of my dumb mainlander transplant questions. I recently returned to the mainland for the first time since my move to visit my parents for a few days in northern California. What the hell is wrong with people. I forgot how insane my life was before my retirement move. In the five days back, all I saw was pissed of angry people, road raging nuts, general discord, rudness, traffic, smog, insane temps, violence and so much more. Upon my return, I was treated with just the opposite. Happy, nice, respectful, helpful people. I know the other side to that story of some transplants saying they are treated like pooh, but thats not my experience with the hawaiian people. Thank you all for making me feel welcomed and treating me so good. Heck one of my neighbors came over and took my trash to the transfer station. Another mowed my lawn for my wife and I while we were gone. GOD I LOVE THE PEOPLE HERE!!!! I just can't believe how fortunate we are to be in a position to live among you guys... yeah I know just like anywhere else there are problems, but this is just a polar opposite to the mainland.

I haven't been back to the Seattle area, where I came from, for the almost 6 years since we moved here. I did fly to Las Vegas once to play in the National Open Chess Tournament. It always feels great to fly into the Hilo Airport.

The mind perceives what you imagine. So if you think an area is gonna be how you describe you will see that. Pretty cool huh? Big Grin I am glad you perceive hawaii like how you paint the picture. Yes, we have problems, but, I always keep my spaced out 3-4 cars ahead of me no matter how close they get to my back bumper! Big Grin Slow down and space out... Says someone from the mainland, while I see idiots flying by with bumper stickers that say Drive with Aloha, this isn't the mainland! LOL! Roger that Big Kahuna! Big Grin

Did you get a chance to use Bird's opening during the tournament?
