Cesspool topping
#1
What is the best material to use to cover concrete cap of cesspool? Rock garden? Lawn? Shallow root plants? I'd appreciate hearing your ideas. I know the clean out needs to remain accessible.

My place came with grass over the top. No problems in 8 years.

I put rocks on top of ours, enlarged the footprint in some areas slightly, and created a relief map of the Big Island. I oriented it to the compass and even put a little white coral on top of "Mauna Kea". It helps explain the geography tour visitors. Smile

Ours came covered in cider soil with lemon grass planted around the hatch hole, hiding it from view.

Previously we had owned a lot that was undeveloped except that it had a clearing and a cesspool. I built a bathroom over it with the concrete cesspool top being the floor of the bathroom, and a regular flushing toilet that flushed into it. The bathroom roof caught the water that went into a raised catchment that provided gravity fed-water for flushing the toilet. I had plans to add a shower in there, and potentially even a clothes washer, but we wound up going a different direction and sold that property.
