I think we traded down
#11
Imagine if Rob required us to meet up IRL at least once a year with nametags on, or have our accounts deactivated. And if the only way to activate a new account was in person! I think it'd be cool to get together.

I know with 95% certainty about 6 people on here, Kalakoa among them. Not sure how many know me.

" I think it'd be cool to get together."

Some of us (including me) would probably want at least 6 months notice, so we could be on good behavior for a while.

(About a decade ago I read about hundreds of players on one of those massive online games who organized a convention so they could all meet. They came from all over the U.S.)

"Speaking on kalakoa's last post.. I hope kalakoa is moving towards great and positive ventures. I wish him/her good luck as I've enjoyed kalakoa's contributions and conversations over the years. Aloha nui loa kalakoa"

Much appreciated Kalakoa's intelligence and sincerely miss Iron Yak, another trusted source.
Concur, my 2 cents.....I too think it's a trade down

Jon, I have a friend who makes instruments, and a couple of years ago he made one out of a cigar box. I remember it being a banjo, but I could be mistaken. It could have been a steel because he plays slide as well. Just curious about where you got it. Can it be played like a guitar or is it set up more like a Dobro?

What style do you play? With the G-tuning I'm guessing either Hawaiian or bluegrass.

Would those nametags have our real names or our monikers...or both?

Before this goes too far I want to remind everyone that exposing someone's true identity here is frowned upon and grounds for suspension.

Many years ago, we actually did get together for Puna Parties. Some have passed on, some relocated, some just quiet. They were great times.

Back with a big, long post in Vacation Rentals. Intentions? Will he remain? Perhaps he is toying with us.....

New year, new priorities, not so much time for this crap, but I will hijack this thread towards the greater good.

1. County doesn't assess property taxes on vacant DHHL land, how many millions are we losing? Side effect: if leased, the lessor would pay those taxes, thereby creating incentive for DHHL to actually lease the land so people can use it.

2. Someone needs to explain to Ige that all marijuana is illegal, it's pure hypocrisy to be against it ("plans to veto any legislation that would decriminalize/legalize") while also selling dispensary "licenses" for $50K/year. (Don't say "but the Cole Memo", that's an artifact from a previous administration which was never legally binding.)
