Happy Birthday Ansel Adams
#1
Ansel Adams was born on this date in 1902. He visited the Big Island in 1956-1957, as well as Oahu, Maui, Molokai, and left us with a treasure trove of photographs.

A birthday worth celebrating.

I was fortunate to have had him guest teach two of my photography classes in the 1960's. My photography teacher was a student of his.
It was some years later I fully realized how fortunate I was.

The big lesson I recall from Adams was: "I don't care if you ever take a decent photograph. But I do hope you learn to look at the world around you."
Assume the best and ask questions.

I concur. His winter pics of the beautifull Yosemite scenery will always be in my memory. I have been lucky enough to see it in all its winter and summer splendor. I prefer the winter lol
Aloha

That is an amazing story Rob! Love Ansel Adams and love going to his gallery in Yosemite. How many people can say they were a photography student of Ansel Adams?

I wanted to photograph the eruption of our lifetime this past summer, but being respectful of Leilani residents and County orders to stay away I never had the opportunity without risking a fine or arrest even though I could see the glow from my house and hear the fissures.
