The Centers For Disease Control studied the reactions of Hawaii residents to the false missile warning last year. Their findings?
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released a report detailing how the mix-up left the public both terrified and extremely pissed off at authorities.
The study analyzed the impact of the false alarm by looking at over 14,000 tweets from January 13, 2018, during two 38-minute time periods
According to the CDC, before the retraction, Hawaiians were mostly trying to come to terms with the threat and searching for information about what to do.
Once the alert was retracted, the CDC notes, public perception of the event immediately shifted. Not only were Hawaiians angry at how long it took officials to correct the alert, they were also cheesed at how no one seemed to know how to respond to the ultimately fake threat.

That sounds about right.

I do not have alerts on my phone. I got an alert years ago and said wtf and turned them off.
The morning of the mixup my daughter called from Maui and said she thought maybe her phone was broke. I laughed, and never got concerned. She obviously didn't take it seriously either.
It just ain't going to happen. We didn't spend a gazillion dollars on the Star Wars program (no, not the movie) to not have all sorts of responses we'd play out long before any missile actually got here.
And, after all, for that little pip-squeak to throw one of those at us is utter suicide. He's nuts, but I doubt he's that nuts.
I am glad the CDC found something to study. Rat Lung Disease might be a more pressing issue.. but not as flashy for sure.

1. There is nothing to do if you are in the path of a direct hit.
2. I doubt the accuracy of the fat pip-squeak's missiles to begin with. The aim might be Pearl Harbor, but I doubt he could hit it.
3. Whose GPS tracking does he rely upon and how quickly are we (USA) able to jam it?
4. That little anti-missile base up there on Kauai has had good success at knocking them out in testing.

@ldude... That little anti-missile base up there on Kauai has had good success at knocking them out in testing.
If ya consider 56% good
Star Advertiser...Jan 31, 2018 - New $30M defense missile fails in test off Kauai ... The ground-based system has a record of 10 intercepts in 18 attempts, or a 56 percent success rate...
If I'm not mistaken, the US did not try to take out the missile fired over Japan by NK because we were afraid we would MISS!

Am I the only one who thinks it's a waste for the CDC to spend money reporting on how Hawai'i residents reacted to this? I think anyone could pretty much guess we'd be both terrified and then pissed off.
Perhaps a smaller group of people who reacted with disbelief represent a rapidly growing number of residents who've seen how utterly incompetent our HCD is and now take whatever they say with a large grain of pa'akai.

No.
In fact I have a few of my own findings, but at no charge:
1) 2018 Lava Flow: First shock and awe, now irritated because Hwy 132 is still the road to nowhere
2) 2019 Real Estate Tax Bill: Initially horrified at how much I pay, then angry at how it's spent
3) HPPOA: First meeting I attended I responded with shock, fear, and panic, now just exasperation with a side of smoldering despair

They didn't talk to me.
A friend and I had just started on our daily 3 mile walk.Several neighbors stopped by to tell us about the alert. We thought about it for a few seconds, laughed about it and continued our walk.
My wife passed by in the car and showed us the alert on her phone. She was on her way to Hula practice at the Leilani community center.I asked if she was going back home to hide under the bed.She said no, she would go to practice and if it happened she would at least die happy.
Logically the little fat guy hasn't shown the ability to launch a missile that can survive re-entry.

(HOTPE-Lol!) It does seem a disturbing pattern is emerging. From a normal state of placidity first shock and then rage.
Perhaps it's caused by something like this:
