Okay I thought it was kind of a nice a scientist got a grant to go look for crickets on the new Lava flow which is still cooling.

Yeah cool info. I'm grateful for the enlightenment.

Amazing they can live out there on the barren landscape just eating seafoam and plant dust in the wind. Then when vegetation comes in they're gone and nobody knows where they go. Sound like more grants could be given for continual research.

a group led by entomologist Frank Howarth of Honolulu's Bishop Museum was out exploring Kilauea's lava fields when it spotted the crickets. Lacking formal traps, the group baited empty wine bottles with bits of "rancid raw cheese."

What was this group really up to, wandering lower Puna with plenty of empty wine bottles and cheese at hand? Smile
