Buying Palm Trees
#1
I have a fairly large coconut palm, about 25', and a smaller bottle palm that are in the way and need to be removed.

I've heard that there are people who buy these and come remove them. Is this true and does anyone know who I would contact to do so?

Thanks

There are companies that do this. They remove large coconut trees, digging them out with heavy equipment. Back in the 1990s they were selling the trees to hotels being constructed along South Kohala.

In one case I am acquainted with, they did not pay the owner after taking the trees (was supposed to be $200 per tree). They just drove off. Actually they came back one time, it is suspected.

The company had 3-4 young guys that helped with the tree removal. During the process, they roamed around the property. Two nights later, approximately $8000 worth of marijuana plants disappeared in the middle of the night. Quite a poor decision that property owner made...

Terracore, I’ll do that. When I called him today he asked me, “Did you send me an email?”. I told him no, I hadn’t.

I met with David today and he was very nice and straightforward. He said he doesn't pay a lot for the palms, only about $200 to $300. He is only looking for ones that have at least 20' of trunk.

Since the one I have is only about 8' of trunk he was not interested.

I mentioned about the email Terracore and he said "Was his name _____?
I said I didn't know since it was on this forum, so maybe he'll still contact you.

Even though he didn't want the palm, he was very pleasant and we talked story for quite a while.
