Amazon store card-Synchrony
#1
I got 3 emails from Synchrony Bank (Amazon store card) this morning saying there were trial deposits to my account (NOT the store card) and I needed to take action (blank email). After waiting until this afternoon to get the customer service number to work, I waited for half an hour on hold and finally talked to an agent, who said they were from them, but it was a computer screwup.

So if you got such emails, just delete them.

Thanks. My wife got one of those. Had us both googling to find out who they were.

I was considering getting one, until I read through the review on Amazon for that card. I'd like the $60 Amazon credit, but, no thanks. My peace of mind is worh more.

They actually sent an apology email. I was surprised since their customer service at Synchrony is usually they don't have any.

I got the apology too, but it was almost no customer service, since they did not send it until late in the day.

The Amazon Prime rewards card (managed by Chase) is a much better deal.

The Prime Visa used to have 3% cash back on Prime purchases and then they rolled out the Amazon store card at 5% to trick us all into thinking it was a better deal. After enough people signed up for the store card they increased the Visa rate to 5%. So they looked the same if you're only using either card on Amazon and pay your bill in full each month.

But the Amazon store card only offers 5% cash back on items sold and fulfilled by Amazon and 0% on all other Amazon purchases. As far as I understand it the Amazon Prime Visa pays 5% on items sold and fulfilled by Amazon and 1% on all other Amazon purchases.
