How to get a yellow ti leaf
#1
I would like to know how to get yellow (bright golden yellow) ti leaves. I saw them in a twisted 3 color ti leaf lei at the May Day Lei Day. Asked, and was told it was made with yellow ti leaves. Looked up 'yellow ti' & the ones I could find have red & bright green streaks. I have twisted older 'yellowed' ti leaf, but this gives a darker more brown/gold lei because of the older browner spots.

I am asking because there a 3 of us 'experienced' envrionmental graduates next weekend that have earned the ability to wear gold yellow honors cords. None of wants to purchase a one-use cord, and we think it would have more meaning & be more 'green' to use ti leaves to twist our cords. Does anyone have a way to get green leaves to yellow more evenly, or does anyone have a more solid yellow ti leaf plant that I can trim some leaves off of?

Hi Carey,

Congratulations to you!I have seen bright yellow leaves on older ti plants growing in shady places. Maybe there's only one per plant at a time since they're the old leaves. Hmmm...maybe you can scope out a patch of ti in a shady place and find them. Good luck and have a wonderful graduation day!
