Any recommendations for someone who does rock wall work? The house I bought has a 12 foot rock wall in front that was 2 feet high. I guess the owner wanted it higher, so he added 2 feet of CMU and filled the blocks with concrete. It looks really tacky and I'd like to fix it. If you can recommend anyone, thanks.

I had one built five years ago, but they seemed to “find me” as I was doing some really heavy landscaping.
Must have had a scout or something. His crew did a good job but took a few weeks to finish. Don’t pay in full at the start. Pay for the supplies and then percentages as the project completes.
I sort of kept in touch with the leader, but he was always changing phone numbers.
Hint: When getting a bid, you need to be VERY specific about what you want and when you want it done. Make sure they understand and maybe sign off on it. Plan on doing quite a bit of negotiation.
The initial “quote” on my wall was going to be $22,000, but when he saw the look on my face, the price came down. After some discussion, I got the price down to $7000.

If I may ask, how did you get to that price? Was it a "per foot" price? And did they have to do any additional work like clearing the fence line etc?
One thing that I found useful in getting quotes for livestock fencing was knowing how much the materials cost. Puna Rock sells rock wall rocks for $33.50/ton, but I have no idea what that means per foot / height /width of wall.

I think the price depends on how much they want/need work. He quoted by the foot. The height of the wall along with any columns affected the price. I had a drawing of what I wanted, which helped some. I still think he kind of winged it though.
