Smile, You’re On Camera
#1
Starting next Monday, Nov 9, if you interact with a Puna or Hilo police officer, you’ll be recorded on camera.  Probably no biggy for most of us, and the camera is fairly obvious which makes it an easy reminder to put your best foot forward if you get pulled over.

The Hawaii Police Department today announced officers will begin using body-worn cameras in the South Hilo, Kona and Puna districts beginning Monday.

Officers will activate them when they have contact with the public in a law enforcement capacity such as on traffic stops, during arrests, or any call they are assigned to respond to. They will stop the recording once they are done with that incident.

You beat me too it. Just read about this about 6:45 am. I am strongly for body and dash and for all police. Cops should remember that, these cams are not jyst there to catch the few bad cops abusing their power, but equally importantly, it will exonerate the good cops from being wrongly accused of abuse of power.
