Thatʻs really too bad. I wonder about the wisdom of taking Pahoa teens to an Oahu facility. Hereʻs some more info about this.

... the wisdom of taking Pahoa teens to an Oahu facility.

One Puna version of the high school “Class Trip.”  Oh the memories.  Don’t forget to take pictures for the yearbook.

Adolescent males have always thought with their emotions  not their brains.
If they live long enough to mature they'll do OK.
My favorite example is Billy the Kid he was a teenager, and typical of what they can do and be.

" I wonder about the wisdom of taking Pahoa teens to an Oahu facility."

Olamana is the only youth detention center in the state.

The four males were sent to the Hawaiʻi Youth Correctional Facility on Oʻahu pending their initial hearing.

Maybe this will serve as a wake up call for these young boys.

"Adolescent males have always thought with their emotions not their brains."

That's why the Army likes them young.
Assume the best and ask questions.

And why deft use of fear has made so many people do so many stupid things throughout history  - right up to today.   It ain't just the army. It ain't just adolescents. It ain't just males. Humans act on emotion. Period. Full stop. Look around.
