Kennel recommendation for boarding dogs
#11
Yes, excellent info. We've boarded our big old labrador at both places, and both are very good. Lucky D is much nicer, much more space at a cooler elevation. Nicer property and bigger, better kennels. If flying out of Kona, it's a good option. Also, we've done an occasional Kona getaway from time to time over the years, and most places don't take dogs. We would kennel her at Lucky D, then pick her up early in the morning and spend the day together, take her back later in the day. She could go to the dog beach by the harbor, and other dog friendly spots we found. Just an idea if your family adventures includes your dog!

Thought I'd update everyone on Bar-King. Frau Chunkster and I toured the facility in early March and were told to check back because they county had put in a bid to take it over for use by the new (and hopefully improved) version of Animal Control. Called today and learned that the property is in escrow and will only be available for boarding for a few weeks at best. Too bad, as we haven't seen anything nearly as good.
