Hello to everyone!
#1
Just wanted to introduce ourselves as we are moving to Kea'au in September. Does anyone know if there's a forum specific to that area or does everyone use this one since it's all pretty close? I have my prescription snorkel mask and Hawaii nursing license...just waiting on the rabies quarantine stuff! Can't wait to get in the ocean again!

Welcome MLB -

We are in desperate NEED of NURSES! Welcome to the island! There are many other Big Island forums, however, many of us like to gravitate around here. (and Kea'au is considered PUNA)

YOU don't have rabies do you???? just kidding! [Big Grin]

Welcome. You will find Punaweb to be the "A" forum for information, etc.. for the east side. We have a great group of friends developed from here. Be sure to go to Scuba Sunday. It's not only scuba but snorkeling, boogie-boarding, swimming and of course a POT LUCK BBQ!!

I won't be there for the next few but will return in time for the September meet. Great people at all the punaweb activities.

Hop right in... we all had to start at the beginning.

Again, Welcome.

Welcome; As as another newbie, I can assure you that Punaweb is the find of the century. The folks on here are always willing to help and provide us newbies with information not available anywhere else that I've found. Dick
PS. If you go to page 2 of this forum there is a introduce yourself thread that you can post to and follow back to find out about those you're hearing from.

Punaweb is the only non-commercial web site for the whole island and you will find the forum members very friendly here. It's like a whole new universe.

Aloha Mike & Linda,

Welcome and jump right in! That's a snorkler sort of thing to do, isn't it?

Kea'au is sort of the gateway to Puna so it is part of Puna. Also the Puna folks aren't all that fussy about your actual geographic location as long as you have a Punatic heart, they include some of us coast folk among the group as well as others further away.

John, you mean Puna isn't a whole new universe? It always seems like a completely different place from the rest of everywhere else! Wink

Just wanted to say aloha and have a good time on the forum! The forum allows those of us living on the left coast in this forum as well!

Just had to try the new quick reply and find it super! Thanks Rob

Oh a hui hou, hotzcatz, Puna is a whole new universe and if it had fireflies, it would be adult Disneyland for me! What are those entomologists working on? Aloha

Welcome from another newbie, soon to be Punabound. LOML is also a nurse so maybe we will have something in common.

Thanks for the friendly responses from everyone. I work full time and decided to return to college for my higher degrees so I hadn't checked back on the forum. I'm glad that there's gatherings. We just bought a nice grill that we'll be bringing in the moving pod. Eight fingers...where are you working? I can't get anyone to even interview me until I arrive there...is that typical? With my 28 years of varied experience plus the nursing shortage...I thought they'd be jumping to recruit me. I've been in LTC now for over 10 years so I'll probably try to get on at the Life Care Center in Hilo unless you have better suggestions? I can't even find out what the typical nurse wages are! Our mortgage loan for the house there should be finalized next week. We're looking at a house in a subdividion on Lehua Drive in Kea'au. We're planning on being there Sept. 9th. I have my prescription snorkel mask and Hawaii nursing license so we're all set as soon as the dog's rabies quarantine time is up. Linda Bowman
