Catchment question...
#1
The comment was made to me that I should paint the white abs pipes that connect the gutters to the catchment tank. The reason being the sun’s UV will make the pipe brittle and break. Is there anything to this?

i was told the same thing, but another reason i painted them, is to blend them in with the house and then it goes under ground from the house to the tank. i've seen the sun break down other plastics in a few years, not sure how long it would take on the water pipe. when i drive to kona i see lots of people use it for lines from the meters to their homes and are just laid on top of the ground.

Ok, leave it to me to ask the chick question.
What kind of paint should one use to paint the abs pipes? Also, do they have to be repainted every so many years?
Royall your place is coming along very nicely, you should be proud. Aloha all,
PJ

My friend back in Brookings Oregon sent this information about PVC pipes. I was going to paint them anyway but Ron was able to come up with the low down. I don’t think I would want that “brown” look on the house. I’ll paint them the same as what is behind them. I will try latex primer and then paint them when I finish the house.

Thanks for the kind word Pam.
