pond liners

Hello All,
I am having a pond/resevoir dug and it should hold close to 50,000 when done. Anybody know where these liners come from? Had any experience putting one in?

Just a note as I came across this for the 1st time ...ever....

One of my friends failed her final on Wednesday because .... her pond had filled up (from the pouring rain). Her natural "pond" typically is just a low spot in her yard that is more marsh like than any real water in it. The day the inspector came it had about 24" of water in it. It was not soaking in fast enough or draining out the other side fast enough. She told him that 2 other inspectors had been out there (her area changed inspectors again) and had not seen it as a problem. The solutions the inspector offered her were: power self closing gate, fence the pond like a pool is fenced, or fill pond. This low spot is about 30' oval at the longest spot. (I told her I would check with Nani about calling it a "reserve catchment".)

She also told the inspector that if he comes out in July or august it is usually almost dry. In fact she climbs into the muck and weeds.

That "pond" sounds more like mosquito heaven than any thing else. I wouldn't want that near me.

What you've described as a pond sounds like it may meet the federal definition of a wetland, which includes any area saturated to the ground surface for at least thirty consecutive days. Now, the regulations for wetland impacts by single family homes (not associated with a residential development) are typically liberal, but the recommendation that the "pond" be filled sounds like the inspector needs some training.
