GIANT snails

mongoose think they're mighty tasty too - we had to keep bait around our catchment tank as the snails all headed there during dry spells - a neighbor paints petroglyphs on the shells and makes leis

The Snail bait/killer has some nasty write ups, & should not be used near pets, so we pick up the buggers with grabbers or a golf ball water retriever (best use for golf equipment...) and place a pile in the center of the road (zen thing... I don't like killing things & speeding cars.... this takes care of both - esp. those low rider Hondas, boy do they slow down for a pile of big land snails... escarnogo)
The snails do not cross copper, so copper tape or bare wire keeps them off of lucious vegetation.
They were initially brought here for eating(escargot)& are still farmed in Brazil & China for food, but are PETS in England... go figure!

Carey, the tin roof cover is to contain the pellets so pets, birds etc don't get em!


The lei idea is excellent, could carry a potential for a 100% Made in Hawaii label! Don't laugh, well off tourists don't want Taiwan goods! Assure the flesh is fully removed, and the shell is cloroxed good!

I collected 9 empty snail shells, soaked them in bleach water, my sweetie drilled small holes in the top part of the shells and using fishing line, we made an awesome wind chime out of the empty shells!

I suppose one could collect the live snails, and also soak them in bleach water to kill them, and then dry them out??? Really, the sound of the shells clanging together is wonderful....
