Today is the traditional day to make mochi!

Many years ago when my mom first moved here - some one was talking about making mochi. My mom - way way haole in every way then - said "is that the Hawaiian term for making love"????

Try answering that question with a straight face as a tutu looks at you innocently! All of us were laughing so hard we about split a seam and it took a few minutes before someone could stop laughing enough to explain about making mochi.

So New year's day to me is always about making mochi, laughing really hard, and remembering that not only the young can be so very innocently naive! [:I]

Here's to Health, and prosperity in the new year!
