I planted in my planting soil which is a mix of store bought and my add's chicken, charcoal, & neem cake. My planter box's are about 11" deep.

How much neem cake? And no cinder?

For those with deep soil could be a nice ground cover. And no weeds to fight.

No weeds where are you from. Weeds like nice soil and they grow great and big.

I thought as in a lot of ground cover plants peanuts overcome weeds. At least it looks like it on some pictures.

They do a pretty good job of weed supression, but only once they're large enough to shade the ground. Until then, you still have to weed. Don't think to hasten the ground-covering process by planting them too close, however, or you will not get a good crop. I like 18" apart. They also make nice hanging baskets - use the large ones.

In some of my boxes I add cinder but not in root crop boxes. I would like to add sand but the cost is too high.
