The East Hawaii county council members will attempt a coup at the next Hawaii County Council meeting on June 16, 2009 at the Sheraton Keauhou.
Resolution 200 would strip councilman Pete Hoffmann of his vice chairmanship of the council and replace him with Puna councilwoman Emily Naeole.
Resolution 201 would strip councilman Dominic Yagong of his chairmanship of the Finance committee and relegate him to chairing the Public Safety and Parks and Recreation committee. It would also replace councilwoman Brenda Ford with Ka’u councilman Guy Enriques as the head of the Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations committee.
Resolution 202 strips Dominic Yagong of any committee chair position. On top of that, it also merges the Human Services & Economic Development committee into the Finance committee and the Food and Energy Sustainability committee into the Environmental Management committee and shifts chairs and vice chairs around.
