Stock Tank / Dog Pool
#1
Del's Farm Supply in Hilo has a large circular plastic stock tank, two feet deep by seven feet across (700 gallons) - the perfect size for a dog pool. Do any of the horse folks, or others on the Forum, have any experience with this tank? Thanks.

How much were they asking for it?

Thanks, Scott

say brad i have used them for years as fish ponds... never a problem, just make sure you pad the bottom before you fill it up thats gonna be a couple of tons of water in there...so if there are any sharp rocks under neath you might get a puncture eventually....

The large one was about $250. They also carry a sturdier 300 gallon tank from Rubbermaid which is deeper but narrower, at about $180.

I had intended to form and compact a sand base or pad to set it on, and then build the sand up the sides about half way. 5600 pounds is what I figured for weight.

Home Depot carries pre-formed plastics ponds which are large enough to make a good pool, but they seem a bit flimsy for my purposes.

I was just wondering if anyone had any history with this tank. It seems stout enough for dog claws but I wasn't sure. Hate to go to all the trouble and expense if my pack is just going to trash it.
