What the Heck happened to PUNA WEB?
#21
I haven't been to the other website. I have tried New Coke though. Hated it.

I think PW is great. Because Rob moderates it, it stays on track, stays tuned to Puna, rather than becoming a soapbox for those that like to sit at their computers all day long and post whatever comes to mind about whatever is being said, which usually causes any one thread to degrade considerably. I think Rob does an amazing job of moderating PW. It would be a tough job for anyone, and the temptation to use the power in some sort of selfish way would be great. Unlike the abusive ways of other site owners, Rob has proven over and over that he moderates with an even hand and incredible patience. I am also grateful for the other forums, they give those that want a different experience a place to have it. Any discussion of the merits of one compared to the other seems misplaced considering they all have their place, and any participant in one or the other participates by choice. I am just grateful that there is a place to have a Puna related discussion with a wide variety of Puna residence.

On other forums I've visited the moderator bans certain members from posting if they use the forum to let out their hostilities instead of to acquire knowledge, help, etc. A lot of the people who get nasty on forums do it for their own amusement. But I guess they could just re-join under a different name.

Maybe in the old forums in the old days. Nowadays it's easier to ban somebody by blocking their computer ID.
