#1
Aloha Y'all...

Anyone have any 2nd-hand beekeeping gear or equipment they'd like to get rid of at a reasonable price? Please lemme know.

Hi Frankie, I have some from when I used to keep bees on my farm in WA. I wouldn't mind parting with some if you're willing to pay for shipping from the west coast, probably wouldn't be too much. I have some hats, suits, gloves, hive tool, smoker... probably some items I forgot about as well. The suits fit a medium sized woman and a medium sized man.

It is illegal to ship used beekeeping equipment into the state. This law was put into place BEFORE we had the varroa mite here, so it may not be of any use anymore, but I'm sure the law is still there. However, I'm not sure if it is illegal for shipping used beebox woodenware only or if it covers everything such as as suits, hive tools and smokers.

Asly made a friendly offer. Nice.

I kept a few hives years ago. Lots of enjoyment and gifts to share with family and neighbors.

Best wishes for similar good times with beekeeping Frankie. I always especially enjoyed the people who kept bees. They all had very nice attitudes.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Yes, most folks that I know that are beekeepers have all been very friendly and helpful. We were members of a great group for a while and learned alot. The are many groups or clubs of beekeepers that would like to get younger folks interested as the memberships are dwindling. In WA there are even grants for equipment for younger folks to get them started. Guess, I'll keep the bee equip for another time, wouldn't want to do anything illegal - yikes (hubby wouldn't like that). Thanks the the info, I didn't know about that.

Thanx to Asly and others who offered equipment and advice on beekeeping. I wrote Asly a personal email in response to her(?) initial response. Does one have to declare beekeeping equipment is a mailed box? And since the ag inspectors are being laid off, maybe it's a moot point.

Anyway, I appreciate everyones' kind and helpful words. I'm hoping to become more Zen thru these sustainable habits I'm working on developing in my personal world. Mahalo, and aloha to all.

Darn, I did not receive an email. I've tried to email others through the PW site before and no response either. So, not sure what to do about that. Frankie, if you care to try to email me again annsly@hotmail.com. Best to you in your bee keeping adventures!
