I decided to start a new thread so folks wouldn't be confused thinking the lava had stopped. The flow at the Kalapana trailhead has restarted and is extremely accessable right now. There is also a finger moving parallel to the trail towards the ocean. No one can predict with any certainty where these new breakouts are headed.
I'm thinking it's going to be an exciting weekend at waikupunaha, Kalapana.

Halloween night: total stall, no surface flow, very little visible on the pali except at the very top. A second ocean entry west of the older entry was going full force though.

I'm so sorry. I too went down tonight expecting it to be as exciting as Friday and was shocked to find yesterdays flow at the trailhead stopped.

No worries Greg, we will still try again. Hey, were you at MS Auto body a week ago Friday? I took my scion in for an estimate and while I was there someone I thought might be you came in asking if their Toyota was done.

That was me Carol. My little Cressida was old, but was one of the sweetest cars I've ever owned. It got totaled at the Malama intersection Oct 19th. (My wife and all involved were OK)

Big Island, small world. Now I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself. Isn't it a heart breaker when good old Toyotas get hit, my husband's PU was good for another 150,000 miles when it got "totaled" according to blue book values. This is the 3rd time my Scion has gotten hit, I almost wish I had gotten the electric green one!
